CABLES IN BRIEF. A tug foundered in the Gulf of Bothnia during a violent storm and wreckage was washed ashore. Six of the crew escaped in a small boat. A woman cook, who was asleep below, was drowned.

The New South Wales Employers’ Federation has decided to withdraw from the Federal Council of Employers as it is felt that the bodies in other states do not fully realize the handicaps under which New South Wales employers are carrying on business. Although New South Wales represents 45 per cent, of the interests involved, it is claimed that the voice of the New South Wales Federation is not heeded in the Federal Council.
