THE NEW KARLSRUHE
LAUNCHED AT KEIL. (Received 23, 10.55 a.m.) London, Aug. 22. “The Times” Berlin correspondent says the cruiser Karlsruhe, of 6000 tons, the third of the five built for replacement purposes under the Versailles Treaty, was launched at Keil. Speakers recalled that the first Karlsruhe during her three months activities in war time sank 17 Allied vessels and evaded seven pursuers. She sank owing to an explosion in 1914, her commander and 261 men being drowned. The second Karlsruhe served in the North Sea and was sunk at Scapa Flow.—(“Times” cable.)
