LARGE LAUNCH FOUNDERS
IN MANILA HARBOUR. • FORTY LIVES LOST. Manila, Aug. 19. A large launch foundered in the harbour and nearly 40 lives are reported lost. Owing to a strong typhoon attempts at rescue were fruitless. Interisland shipping is tied up and communications interrupted on account of the storm.—(A. and N’.Z.)
