WELLINGTON FRUIT PRICES. Messrs W. Burbidge and Son, re port a much improved demaud for all apples, especially fancy grade which are realising high prices. Pears and pumpkins are selling well. Current prices are as follows:— Apples.—Delicious 7s to lid, Slur mers 5s to 9s fid, Dohertys os to 9s cooking 6s to 8s fid. Pears.—Winter Coles and Nelis 10s to 13s, cooking 8s fid tn 11s fid. New laid eggs Is 8d dozen. Pumpkins.—Red 9s to 13s sack./ Potaies.—White £7 to £8 Red £8 to £8 10s. MARKET SALE. Messrs Gill Bros, report holding a most successful sale at their mart on Saturday last. Exceptionally big yardings came to hand, every lot penned being sold. Bidding was brisK throughout and the following are some of the prices realisedPou'try. W.L. hens 3/1 to 3/7. Black Orpington hen s 4/5 to 4/8; I.R ducks 4/9 to 4/4; cockerels 5/6 to 7/6; hen and clucks 16/-. Pigs. £1 1/- to £1 6/-; porkers £2 4/6; light porkers 31/- to 35/-. Dairy stock. 1 Jersev cow £7 15/-, 1 at £5, 4 at £lO 10/-. 2 ut £lO. 1 at £l2. 1 at £6. 1 at £6 10-, 4 at £8 10/- 1 heifer £5 5/-. 1 at £4. They also held a surplus stock sale on account Mr. Martin Oueil on Friday. The following are the prices realised:—! cow £l3, 1 at £l6. 2 at £l3, 1 heifer £5. 1 at £6 10/-. 4 at £4 10/-, 1 Jersev cow £l5 15/., yearling bull £l5 15/-, 1 heifer £7. 4 at £B,. 1 at £6. 1 at £5. Bidding was spirited and good dairy stock just on drop are in big demand. OHINEMURI MINES. MANAGER'S REPORT. The north drive on the Capioola reef has hecn advanced 32 feet from the Sil verst ream crosscut making a total distance of 510 feet. A "break”
12 feet wide was encountered in the course iff 4'-e last few feet which had disturbed the reef system. The reef lias not been diverted to any extent from its course; and, as soon as the country beyond the intrusion has been reached, similar country to that existing in the Silverstream section should be met with. In the latter section high grade ore appeared after this break was passed. The Power Board is proceeding with the construction of the transmission line to the mine. The new electrical power plant and air-compressor have been ordered and should arrive before the completion of the transmission line.
