SENSATIONAL CHASE
CRUISER v. TRAWLER. (Received 22, 1.40 p.m.) London, Aug. 21. A sensational chase occurred in the Firth of Clyde, when the fishery cruiser Vigilant sighted a trawlei working an otter trawl off Ailsa Craig. The trawler fled, abandoning the net. valued at £lOO. The Vigilant despatched a hydroplane, which, developing a speed of 40 miles an hour, overhauled the trawler, whose crew were disguised and had blacken, ed faces. They ignored the command to stop so the pursuers, using a boathook. dragged off the canvas hiding the trawler’s identification marks, which they noted and abandoned the chase—(Sydney “Sun” cable.)
