WRONGLY DIRECTED ENTERPRISE The boy burglars who. on Wednesday evening, escaped from the nrobation home where thev had been placed after breaking into business premises in the citv continued their career of crime at once. The value of the goods they have stolen now amounts to well over £lOO. and the cost of repairing the damage thev have done is also considerable After escaping from the institution in their night attire, the bovs went to a quarry in Anderson’s Bav where, having procured some old clothing, they entered a ’bus and stole a small leather suit-case and four tins of sweets. These thev took to a railway van in the goods yard. i and after samping the contents of the tins they destroyed the first-aid outfit and otherwise damaged the van in which they spent the night. On Thursday afternoon thev entered the Early Settlers’ Hall bv breaking the windows, and thev afterwards left with food and a spirit lamp. This venture was followed bv an entrv into the Otago Rowing Club’s shed, from which they took a punchball. boxing gloves, and a brief bag. After storing the results of their raids in a railway van, thev entered the premises of A. and T, Inglis, where they were discovered and recaptured. The boys have now- been nlaced in a probation home pending their nnpearance in the Child Welfare Court. £lOO WORTH OF GOODS TAKEN (Special to “Tribune.”) Auckland, August 20. Another daring burglary was committed in Dominion road last niaht w-here thieves broke into the premises of Richard John Cates, a grocer and stole over £lOO worth of tobacco, cigarettes, and foodstuffs. Although a night-watchman patrols th© shops, which are situated near the tram terminus at Dominion road, the activities of the intruders did not draw his attention.
