SALISBURY PLAIN MANOEUVRES 200 TANKS PARTICIPATE. (British Official Wireless.) (Received 20, 12.45 p.m.) Rugby, Aug. 19. Manoeuvres of mechanised sections of the Army began to-day on Salisbury Plain, 200 tanks participating, and a column of mechanical units, including armoured cars, wireless vans, and six-wheeled transport vehicles extended to a length of seven miles. A surprise attack by aeroplanes was a feature of the opening stages of the mimic warfare.
