CLASH WITH FOLICE. CHARGE DISPERSES MOB. (Received 19. 9.55 a.m.) Paris, Aug. 18. A serious clash between Communist strikers and the police occurred in Avenue d’ltalie this afternoon, when a crowd of strikers, as a means of protest against the dismissal of a comrade, tried to force entrance to the metropolitan railway yard. When they were expelled they collected a crowd of 700. seized a policeman and were proceeding to throw him down a well when three passers-tn- rescued him. The police arrived and charged and dispersed the mob, 10 being injured and three arrested.—(A. and K.Z.)
