WAIPUKURAU TOURNAMENT
FINALS PLAYED. The ladies’ golf tournament on the Marakeke Links was concluded .yesterday,' a surprising feature being the score of Mrs 1. W. N. Mackie, who did a hole of 176 yards in one, bogey being 4. The tournament concluded with presentation of the trophies by Mrs Bishop. In a short speech prior to the prize giving, Mr Bishop complimented the club captain and the secretary, who had worked so hard for the success of the tournament. He called for cheers for the visitors, which were heartily returned when Mrs Holden, Dannevirke. called for three cheers for Waipukurau. The following are the results :—
Championship: Second Round: Miss I. Ormond beat Miss McKie, 1 up; Miss Bernau beat Mrs Myers, 6 and 5.
Final: Miss 1. Ormond beat Miss Bernau. 5 and 3.
Marakeke Handicap: Second Round Miss D. Gibbons beat Miss M. Riddell, 3 and 2; Miss M- ’White beat Mrs Dalgleish, 4 and 2.
Final: Miss M. White beat Miss D. Gibbons, 3 and 1. Senior Medal Round: This round was won by Miss Stairmand with a score of 93, handicap 20, making a net total of 73. The runner-up was Miss C. McKie, 96-20-76. Junior Medal Round: Miss C. Woods, 101-24-77, won the junior medal round, the runner-up being Miss J. Rathbone, 110-32-78. Fonr-Ball Bogey; Mrs Green and Mrs Hartgill, 8 up; Misses A. and I. Butler. 8 up ; Mrs Polson and Miss Cuthbertson. 8 up. PARKVALE DRAW. The following is the draw for the medal round to be played to-morrow afternoon, run conjointly with the championship first qualifying round for Saturday players :—Cullum Campbell plays C. Torr, D.
