THE HON. SIR EDWIN MITCHELSON, K.C.M.G., M.L.C., who was born in Auckland 81 years ago, commenced his political career when he entered the House of Representatives as member for Marsden in 1881. In 1890-91 he was acting-Premier and Colonial Treasurer. He was Mayor of Auckland from 1903 to 1905. Sir Edwin is president of the Auckland Racing Club.
