WAIPUKURAU CLUB. LADIES’ TOURNAMENT. Marakeke links was the scene of the Waipukurau Club’s first annual ladies’ golf tournament yesterday, when the opening rounds of the various compeitions were played for. A considerable number of visitors were present, and the weather was ideal tor the game. The details are as follow:— The first championship round resulted as follows:—Miss McKav beat Mrs Mackie; Miss Ormond beat Miss Sim; Miss Bernau beat Mrs Holden : Mrs Myers beat Miss Roberts. In the Marakeke Handicap the first round resulted as follows: —Miss M. Riddell beat Mrs Hobson: Miss Gibbons beat Mrs Parsons: Miss M. White beat Miss Stairmand: Mrs Dalgleish beat Mrs Clark. The senior medal round was won by Mrs Myers with a score of 93. handicap 18. net 75. Mrs Mackie was the runner-up with a score of 92—14—78. The junnior medal was won bv Mrs A. W. Parsons, whose card read 104—>36—68. The runner-up was Mrs Fred Hewitt. 108—36—72. The senior bogey round was won bv Mrs Holden. 2 up. Miss Marie Sim and Miss Stairmand tied for second place with 1 up. The junior hogey match was won bv Miss L. Clark. 1 down. Miss Sainsbury and Mrs Fred Hewitt tied for second with 2 down. A putting competition was won bv Miss Jessie Rathbone. PARKVALE v. MARAKEKE. The following team has beene selected to represent Parkvale against Marakeke on the Marakeke links on Wednesday, August 24. Any player who is unable to make the trip is respectfully requested to notify either Mrs. Garrod or Miss V. Stairmand immediately:—Miss 1.
