MISSING BANKRUPT
liabilities mom , ASSETS MAY BE £2OO. DEBTOR SAID TO BE tN AUSTRALIA. n Auohl " rf . Aug. 1«. Well, gentlemen, you will understand that I haven’t got full information in this case, but I have a very rough estimate of bankrupt’s position. I estimate his liabilities at £4000; relying upon his books his assets may be £2OO, but whether there will be that amount I don t know. The cash in hand amounts to £10; the furniture is valued at £lOO, but most of it is under a bill of sale. From what I have gathered so far there is not likely to be a surplus.” These remarks were made by Mr. G. N. Morris, Official Assignee' at a meeting of creditors of Roderick Gordon-Griffith, proprietor of the Mansions boadinghouse, Whittaker Place, off Symonds street. It was in part a University Students’ Hostel. Bankrupt was not present, and his whereabouts are at preient unknown. It is believed, however, that he is somewhere in Australia. “The first question we here to consider,” said the Official Assignee, “is whether action should be taken by the creditors in getting him back.” A creditor: It will ebst from £6O to £BO to find him. It was stated that there was nothing like £2OO to come into the estate from University students.
It was finally decided to bring bankrupt back to New Zealand from Australia, the expenses not to exceed £4O. It was also agreed that the creditors, be asked to sign a guarantee limited to £4O, to fall equally on all the creditors who signed an agreement drawn up by the Official Assignee An additional provision was that at least ten persons should sign if the guarantee was to be effective.
