SACCO & VANZETTI
COUNSEL’S PLEADINGS BEFORE FULL BENCH. DECISION RESERVED UNTIL FRIDAY. IBy Cable-Press 4ssn. — Copyright.) (Received 17, 10.10 a.m.) New York, Aug. 16. Four Judges of the Massachusetts Supreme Court, sitting at Boston as the Full Bench, heard argument on the exceptions taken by counsel for Sacco and Vanzetti to the decisions made by Judges Thayer and Sanderson. The main object of the )hidings tendered by counsel is lo obtain a new trial.
Counsel based his strongest argument on the alleged prejudice of Judge Thayer, which he claimed precluded a fair and impartial trial, but the Attorney-General, in reply, described the proceedings as merely a device further to delay the execution. The Bench reserved its decision until August 19. In the meantime Sacco has broken his hunger strike as a result of threats of forcible feeding.—(A. and N.Z.)
