PROPOSAL TO ABOLISH THEM. SCHOOL COMMITTEE’S PROTESTS ' Auckland, Aug. 17. The Board of Education has received a sheaf of correspondence from school committees protesting against any proposal to curtail the powers of education boards. The chairman, Mr. Burns, said he (lid not think the Board would take formal action as the Minister had neither said nor denied that the Board’s powers would be curtailed. He did not think the Board could take action until a bill was brought down proposing to abolish the Board’s powers.
It was resolved that the protests from committees on the subject be sort fn members of Parliament.
