SERVICE CARS.
AMENDING LEGISLATION TO BE CONSIDERED. Amending legislation affecting service cars plying on main routes is to receive consideration, according lo a reply the Minister of Public Works gave a tecent deputation of interested parties. The deputation was composed of service car proprietors and others interested and their representations concerned the effects of a lecent Court judgment by which it appeared that service car proprietors might be compelled to pay license fees to all local authorities within whose districts they plied. The Minister stated that he would give consideration to ah amendment of the iMotor Vehicles Act for the purpose of meeting the situation, which lie considered was hardly intended by the Act when passed. “In the meantime,” hf aiTiiod. “I do not consider fhjit local authorites will lake unuue advantnge of the powers disclosed by the judgment.”
