DISTRICT NURSING.

HASTINGS ASSOCIATION. MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the above association was held on Thursday. Mrs G. A. Maddison (Mayoress) presided. Also present: Mesdames W Nichol, Banks, Grainger, Wilson. Glenny, Lovell-Smith, Waterworth. Paynter, Satchell, Nairn. Havward, Hickmott. Jones, Budd. Chanman. Ebbett. Beach. Pickering. Deaconess Holmes, Miss Ford. Messrs Hoobs and T. Donovan ;Apologies were received from His Worship the Mavor, Mrs Boshier and Mr Harris. The president extended a cordial welcome to the new members of the committee.

The nurse’s report for July read as follows:—Visits to homes 143. treatments at depot 37. calls for advice 25, food distribution to homes 56.

A satisfactory report was submitted by the treasurer who stated that subscriptions and donations amounted to £42 3s 4d. including £23 5s 4d from lona College, being third proceeds of the lonn College nlav “Lilies of the Field,’’ held receni'v in the Municipal Theatre.—lt was resolved that a letter of thanks be sent expressing the committee’s sincere appreciation.

The president reported that the Girl Guides, organised bv Mrs \V. Richmond, had contributed a very generous parcel of clothing.—The committee gratefully acknowledge their indebtedness to the Girl Guides for the splendid service they have rendered the association in their effort to alleviate distress.

The appeal, made in connection with food supplies had resulted in a libera] response, including two heifers which were sold The proceeds are to be used for augmenting supplies for distribution. the resignations of Mrs E V. Simpson and Miss Elsie Williams were received with deep regret. Eulogistic reference was made to the valued service rendered bv these two members. It was resolved to place on record the association's appreciation. •

A vote of thanks was passed to all those who have so kindly sent in gifts or helped in any way.
