RECENT AWAPUNI STRIKE.

SIX OF EXECUTIVE DISMISSED ALLEGED VICTIMISATION. Auckland, Aug. 12. Six ot the men of tho local executive at Arapum concerned in the recent strike have been dismissed by the Armstrong Whitworth Company, according to a statement made by one of them, Kelly, who left to-day for Queensland. Kelly alleges victimisation. He says he had been in charge of dangerous and skil’ed work for two and a-half years at 25/- per shift so that ho could not be regarded as an indifferent worker, A well-known labour representative in Auckland, replying to Kelly's statement, says that personally he does not think the men discharged have been victimised any more than other men going to and coming from Arapuni. As far as he could understand there was no executive operating there at the present time. Kelly and the others, as a result of the recent secession movement, were removed from office.

A fortnight ago a meeting was called to appoint new officers, when i, was decided to defer the matter until the question of the suspension of Kelly and others had been finally dealt with. These people had been at loggerheads with the officers of the New Zealand Workers' Union and it was only to be expected that they were looking to blame someone.
