Vigorous Batting

New Zealand v. Gloucester. INNINGS DECLARED AT 9 FOR 415 LOWRY MAKES A CENTURY. [By Cable — Pres, Kim. — Copyright.) (Received 12, 9.35 a.m.) London, Aug. 11. The wicket had completely recovered to-day and enabled the New Zealanders to give another display of vigorous batting before an attendance of 2500. By lunch 135 was added to the total. Page was badly missed by Parker off his own bowling at 20 and then went on to score 59. His partnership with Mills for the fourth wicket produced 121 in 85 minutes. The latter, who reached 86, was in nearly 3J hours and only hit seven boundaries. Lowry’s play was in striking contrast to the Aucklander’s. He only took 85 minutes to reach his century and hit 15 fours, including four in’ one over from Goddard. Parker was the only bowler who could keep him at all quiet. He sent down 15 maiden overs out of 48. After Mills left, Lowry did not meet with any support except from McGirr and as soon as he had attained his century declared at nine for 415, COUNTY GOES IN AGAIN. Going in again, Dipper and Sinficld made a much better start for the county. They batted stubbornly in the effort to save the game and took an hour and a half to get 75. Blunt then broke up the partnership and also quickly got Sinfield with a clinking ball. Dipper was in altogether 145 minutes before reaching 50 and was unlucky enough to be bowled in the last over of the day.

When stumps were drawn Gloucester had 130 on foe three wickets. Details :—
