Messrs Hill and Gourgaud, of the Australian Federal Public Works, and Railway Departments, are making an exhaustive investigation into American road systems including macadam, bituminous, and concrete all these types proving satisfactory here and adaptable to Australian needs, it being only question of cost. For instance, concrete is about 25.1)00 to 30,000 dollars a mile here an’d probably will be higher in Australia. Mr Hill continues his inquiries in England.—(A. and N.Z.)
