AUSTRALIA’S EMPTY SPACES. ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES. (Received 10, 10.20 a.m.) Sydney, Aug. 10. , The acting Commonwealth Statistician states that the total permanent gain to the population of Australia from overseas migration during the year ended June 30 last was 49,722, composed of 31,157 males and 18,565 females, an increase of 38 per cent, compared with the previous year.
The arrivals numbered 115,479 and the departures 65,757.
