DEBT SETTLEMENT.

SERB-CROAT-SLOVENE DEBTS TO BRITAIN. AGREEMENT SIGNED. (British Official Wireless.) (Received 10, 1.10 p.m.) Rugby, Aug. 9. An agreement for the settlement of the Serb-Croat-Slovene war debt to Great Britain was signed this morning by the Chancellor of the Exchequer and the Serb, Croat and Slovene representatives. The war debt, which amounted to approximately £25,500,000 will be funded and repaid by 62 annuities of the following amounts;.—lu 1927, £150,000; in 1928, £200,000; in 1929, £250,000; in the years 1930 to 1935 inclusive, £300,000 a year; in 4936 to 1939 inclusive, £350,000 a year; in 1910 and 1941, £400,000 a year; and in 1942 to 1988 inclusive, £600,000 a year.

Agreement has also been reached for the settlement of the Serb-Croat-Slovene relief lebt to Great Britain The amount of this debt* has been agreed at £2,068.843. and it will be repaid in full with interest at 5 ner cent, over a period of 15 years The annual payments amount to between £lOO,OOO and £150,000 During the years 1927 to 1931, and thereafter they will be approximately £240.000 per annum for the rears 1932 to 1941.

Annuities in respect of the war debt have been scaled down during the years up to 1942 in order to take liability for the relief of debt.
