THE WAIPUKURAU FATALITY.
CORONIAL INQUIRY. (Special to “Tribune.”) Waipukurau, Aug. 10. A coronial inquiry was opened before Dr. Kendall, district coroner, this morning concerning the death of Francis William Walsh, aged 36, a soldier settler of Takapau, and the victim of the Ruataniwha street railway crossing accident at Waipukurau on the 26th of last month. Air, D. B. Kent, solicitor, represented Thomas Power, settler of Takapau, the driver of the car in which the deceased was when the fatality occurred. Air. AL Vance, traffic inspector, Wellington, watched on oehalf of the Railway Department The principal evidence was that of Power and William Richard Morris, of Napier, the driver of the railway engine.
A verdict of death from injuries to the skull and brain, sustained in a collision between a car driven by Power and the Wellington-Napier mail train, was returned.
