EXPERIMENTS WITH POTASH.

ITS GREAT VALUE PROVED. Mr. McGillivray, Government instructor in agriculture fo r Southland, who has been investigating the use of potash for the past few years, says his first trials, on a very small scale, proved so successul that he undertook larger experiments. When potash was used on potato crop an increased yield of 18 per cent, was recorded. Largely increased production was secured with sweae® and turnips. Wherever potash was included in the mixture a stronger growth was noticeable, and the foliage was dark green and luxuriant. On the Winton experimental farm a swede block treated with potash cave three tons an acre more than where phosphates alone were used. This season th© crop of chou moellier at Gore experimental area was on© of the outstanding features, because of the wonderful growth where potash had been included in the mannrial mixture. Quite a number of excellent results have been secured by the use of potash on pastures.
