HASTINGS RADIO SOCIETY.

THE PROPOSED STATION. HELP FROM COUNCIL. The uiual meeting of the Hastings Radio Society was held on Monday night, the Rev. F. A. Bennett presiding over a fair attendance of members.

It was decided to carry on with the proposal to incorporate the society and the rules submitted to the meeting were approved. The necessary signatures were obtained and the articles will be dispatched this week. In connection with the proposed broadcasting station in Hastings, the secretary reported that several offers of assistance in the way of talent for broadcasting had been received.

The president, the Rev. Bennett, stated that, in company with Messrs A. 8. Tonkin and E. T, Gifford, he had waited on the Hastings Borough Council and placed the position of the society before the councillors. The latter were very favourably impressed with the proposal to erect a broadcasting station in Hastings and the council was prepared to grant the society free current up to 5/- per week to run the plant. Mr. Bennett also mentioned that in the event of the station being run successfully, the council would later be possibly prepared to give financial assistance from the unauthorised expenditure The secretary reported that further contributions amounting to £9 5/had been received towards the broadcasting station fund, bringing the total up to £3l 11/-. As soon as the articles of incorporation are returned a big effort will be marie to raise the desired £2OO.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Mr. K, Crees commenced a series of lectures dealing with radio and its constfuction, etc. It is hoped to continue these lectures at each meeting so as to make members thorough jy conversant with their receivers.
