OBITUARY.
DUKE OF ORLEANS. (Received 29, 12.50 p.m.) Brussells, Alar. 28. The death is announced of the Duke of Orleans.—(A. and N.Z.) Loins Philippe Robert, Duke of Orleans, a French nobleman, was claimant to the Crown of the Bourbons. Born at Twickenham, Middlesex, on February 6, .1869, son of the Comte de Paris, he was educated at the College Stanislaus, Paris. Exiled by the law of 1886 he served with the 60th Rifles in India, 1888-89. In February, 1890, having gone to Paris to claim the right of performing a Frenchman’s military duties, ho was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment, but was released in June. In 1896 he married the Archduchess Alaria Dorothea of Austria.
