Masterton, Dec. 23. Agitato (7.1) was omitted from the Wairarapa Cup in the telegraphed list of acceptors for the Wairarapa summer meeting. ELLERSLIE TRACK NOTES. On Tuesday’s operations at Ellerslie the “Ned Zealand Times” special correspondent makes the following comments: — The best morning’s work of the scason was accomplished at Ellerslie today, the going on the course proper being first-qlass. To Monanui and the Papakura pair, Spoony and Steel Bar, are the only Cup candidates not on the scene, ami they should be here to-day. Haze and Star Ranger arc still in keen demand, but Rapine and The Banker have made friends since their arrival. 'Hie whole of the Cup candidates arc,, well conditioned, and it should bo a great race. Rapine galloped a mile and three furlongs to-day in splendid style, and there is no doubt ho is a fit horse. The Banker and Count Cavour covered a round, and although their time was not fast both went pleasingly, the former going particularly easily all the way. Gala Day, Star Ranger ,and Muskctoon in that order beat Boonierday. Muia'ahi, and Polomett over a mile and a half, the first - named trio all going well. Gala Day was many lengths clear of Polonett, who finished last and is working badly. Gala Day is in great order, but it remains to be seen whether he stays. Star Ranger went solidly throughout, and it will not be surprising xo see him start first favourite. Haze was not asked for time, but he went freely over a mile. Desert Glow ran a solid mile and a quarter in fast time, and the respective good showings of him and Gala Day have given an addi. tional spice to the task of solving the Cup problem.

Of the Railway candidates, Mimetic and Finelli separately, put up fastest times, the former impressing one more than the To Awamutu sprinter, who will find several to keep her moving in her division. Tukia hit out very pleasingly in company with Reremoana, and if she misses the Railway should get a stake during the meeting. She has an undeniable chance on Saturday, and is coming into favour. Lady Ridicule has never been better. Shewent brilliantly over a mile, and will receive solid support here for anything she attempts at the meeting. She

would have something near her Christmas handicap weight up to-day. Money Order has unfortunately contracted a cold, and is an unlikely starter. Commendation was too good for Joy King over the Foal Stakes distance, and there is now no doubt that he will bo a warm favourite on Saturday. Lysandcr went 'freely over five furrongs without being kicked out, and Royal Tea also did well over the same distance This pair will at least keep Commendation doing his best. Limited’s effort will secure him plenty of friends when he lines up for the Nursery on Saturday, and Kiosk also lost none of hii admirers. Mandane and The Lamb went very fast over the first seven furlongs of a mile, the filly having her opponent well beaten at that stage. She is in rare shape and will be fancied for any race she contests.
