Air. West, who has been headmaster of tho Woolston Schoo] for the past thirteen years, retires on superannuation at the end of January after over forty years’ service under*the Canterbury Board of Education.

The Southland High School Board has appointed Air. A. S. Hogg, at present on tho staff of tho Thames High School and formerly of tho Napier Boys’ High School, to the position of senior science master at the Boys’ ixign School.

This morning the office .staff of the Napier Borough Council offices met Air. W. 1). Corbett and made him the recipient of a handsome presentation on the eve of his approaching marriage. The Alayor (Air. J. B. Andrew) in making the presentation, expressed the good wishes of all the members of the staff and wished Air. Corbett a long life of happiness. The town clerk (Air. John Dick) and the borough engineer (Air. G. F. Clancott) also spoke. Air. Corbett suitably replied.

Aliss F. Butcher, who is severing her connection with Alessrs C. H. Slater and Co., Ltd., of Hastings, on the eve of her marriage, was mot by th o head of the firm and the staff a few evenings ago, when Air. F. H. Slater presented her with a handsome silver tea service from the staff, as a mark of their esteem during her long connection with the firm. Air. C. H. Slater, on behalf of the company, presented her with a handsome cheque and all joined in drinking her health and in wishing her every happiness and prosperity in her futuie life.
