(Own Correspondent). A very successful garden fete, which was held by the Takapau Roman Catholic Church at. Orua Wharo on Saturday afternoon was most successful. The beautiful grounds and surroundings were ideal for the purpose and the fete provided a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon A Christmas tree with Santa Claut in attendance was a special attraction ior children. Stalls for toys, sweets, strawberries and cream, afternoon-tea and cool drinks all did good business, as did also the various guessing competitions. Tennis and clock golf competitions proved attractive and were well patronised. The arrangements for the fete were well carried out and merited the success attained. A sum of £5O was realised for the church funds. The WHipawa Municipal Band pen dered selections which added to the enjoyment of those present. There was a specially good attendance which was drawn from a wide district.
