SWIMMING.

A meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Swimming Centre was held on Saturday evening. Present: Messrs. John Mason, M. (chairman). A. A. George (Hastings Technical). P. Sinyrk (Gisborne), C. McLean (Havelock North), F. V. Apperlev (Olympic), E. R. Murphy(Boys’ High School), V. Wall (Heretaunga), A. A. Cohen (Napier Technical), A. W. H- King (R.L.S.S.). R. N. Abbott, H. M. Bauchope (To Awa), E. 1). Berry (handicapper), L. Freedman (treasurer), and H. Lo Bas (lion, secretary). VARIOUS MATTERS. The action of the secretary in purchasing 18 polo caps was endorsed. Mr. Berry (reported that the new goals for polo were almost completed. The secretary was instructed to carry out certain advertising for the New Zealand championships. It- was decided to draw the attention of the Heretaunga Club to the titles used by some of their teams, and to advise them that in future such titles were forbidden. Permission was granted the Auckland Centre to forward their entries for the New Zealand championships on January 14 instead of January 12. The Napier Club was granted permission to hold an open handicap race on Tuesday night. 'The secretary’s action in procuring an additional 25 copies of the N.Z.A.S.A. handbook was endorsed. Accounts totalling £4 18/- were passed for payment. In view of the Pirates Chib having disbanded, it was decided to hand the polo cup to the winner of a match between To Awa and Napier on Tuesday night. Failing a match eventuating, the cup will be handed to the club having a full team ready. ANNETTE KELLERMAN' CUP. It was decided that the race for the Annette Kellerman Cup he held at »,estshore on 'Thursday, January 28, arrangements for same being left in the hands of Mr. Berry and the secretary with power to act. The trophies for the Annette Kellerman Cup wore decided upon as follows:— First, cun and trophy valued £5 5 - : second, trophy valued £2 2/-; third, trophy valued £1 1 -; fastest time (lady), trophy valued £2 2/-; fastest time (gent), trophy valued £2 2-/. The secretary was instructed to write to the Napier Sailing Club asking for permission to use their grounds and pavilion on the day of the race, the pavilion to be for the use of competitors. N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIPS. The prices of admission for the New Zealand championships were decided upon as follows:—Adults 1/6. children 6d, season tickets to cover the four evenings, 5/-. Season ticket holders will have their seats reserved for them for the four carnivals. The secretary was also instructed to procure badges for officials, and the Borough Council is to be requested to leave the coloured lights up on the parade till after the termination of the championship meeting. At the termination of the meeting, the chairman (Mr. Mason) wished all the delegates the compliments of the season, thanking them for their cooperation during the year, and hoped they would all work hard to make the championships a success. The expression of good wishes was heartily reciprocated by all the members present. N.S.W. LA DIES’ CHAMPIONSHIP. Sydney, Dec. 20. Clare Cauldwell won the ladies’ New South Wales, her tlime being 300 yards swimming championship of 4mm. 16 4-ssec.
