SERVICES RECOGNISED.
PRESENTATIONS TO MR \\D AIRS AIcILA-RIDE. Oil Saturday evening a largo number of Napier citizens assembled on the Alarine Parade for the purpose of making a presentation to Air. L. Alcllvride. ex-AI.P. for Napier, and Mrs Mellvride, ‘in recognition of Air. AfeIlvride’s services to tho district. The presentations took the form of an engraved silver tea service to Airs AfcIlvride and a wallet of notes to Air. Alcllvride. Air. R. C. AVright. the chairman of tho executive committee, referred to the generosity of the Napier people in subscribing such a. satisfactory sum and explained that the presentations wore given by all classes or the community. The 'Mayor. Air. J. B. Andrew, in making the presentation, spoke highly of Air. Mcllvride’s services io the town while lie was its representative in Parliament. Ho had don<> all he could to further its interests. Air. Alcllvride. who was received with cheers, said that his aim had always been to further H>o interests of Napier and the district and he hoped that in the days ahead of them the citizens would not regret the confidence placed in him. Both Airs Mellvride and he would continue doing their duty to the town and the Dominion. On behalf of Airs Alcllvride and himself he returned thanks to the people for their splendid gifts.
