N.S.W. Politics

UNBUSINESSLIKE METHODS. LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL’S PROTEST. (Received 10. 11.45 a.m.) Sydney. Dec. 10. In the N.S.W. Legislative Council Sir Joseph Carruthers moved an adjournement to discuss the conduct or Government business in the Council. He said that it was felt that members were entitled to more definite knowledge regarding the conduct of the business of the Government in that chamber. It was difficult for members to deal with the business before the chamber unless they had some previous notice of the business to be taken. Bills were brought forward and advanced to a certain stage and then alowed to remain while other bills were brought along, and thus none were taken to finality. Mr. Willis promised to assist members by all the means in his power, stating that a number of the bills now before the chamber would never reach finalitv in their present form. The motion was then withdrawn.

NEW POLITICAL PARTY. Preliminary arrangements have been completed for the formation of a new political party to be known as the Independent Labour Party. It will affiliate with the Independent naTiour Party of Great Britain.
