I There was only standing room at the Afaddison Aleinorial Baths yesterday afternoon, for the school children’s carnival, and the greatest excitement prevailed amongst the youngsters, to whom the occasion was a red letter day. The management ot* the club, the members of which take such a practical interest in the instruction of children in swimming and in encouraging them to take, like ducks, to the water, should have felt amply gratified at the excellent display of swimming, diving ami endurance, without exhaustion, whilst, the ■ speed they put up was very satisfying. ; The great feature was, however, the frank enioyment expressed by the

youngsters in their eagerness and in their abandonment to the pleasure of . the moment. Following are the results: , Learnerfl’ Race (boys). —Nelson 1. ! Williams 2, Hesketh 3. Teams’ Race. —Central No. 1, .1: Central No. 2,2; Parkvale, 3. AfAHORA CLUB MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Alahora Swim ming Club was held at the Alahora School last Tuesday evening, Mr. W T. Chaplin presiding. The programme lor the carnival to be held at the baths on December 16 and relevant matters were discussed and the programme will be advertised immediately. Azotes of thanks wore accorded to Messrs Horne and Wise, who each donated a trophy to he competed fo'r nt the forthcoming carnival. The committee, after some discussion, decided to make a point of strictly enforcing the rules of the club iegarding the behaviour of members and others using the baths during club hours.
