THE PICTURE HOUSES.
COSY DE LUXE. Splendid character delineation in a wide variety of roles marks the screen production of George M. Cohan’s “Tho Meanest Man in tho World,” the First National picture which is being shown with an all-star cast at tho Cosy de Luxe Theatre this week. Bert Lytell has th© leading male role, that of Richard Clarke, tho kindest-hearted lawyer in New York, trying to act as the meanest man in the world. Blanche Sweet portrays Jaiio Hudson, a country beauty, whose business woes are tho concern of the hero. Bryant Washburn plays the part of New Stevens, tho pal of Richard Clarke. Carl Stockdale, as Hiram Leeds i s giving a convincing characterisation of a town money lender who really deserves to bo called the world’s meanest man, and Victor Potel has a most amusing comedy role. Helen Lynch is to be seen as a snappy stenographer, Lincoln Stedman as a typical Cohan office boy, and Warde Crane as a villain in his ( best style. “The Girl Who Came < Back,” a high-class dramatic feature, < and gazettes are the supports.
