IRISH BOUNDARY DISPUTE.
THE BIRKENHEAD LETTER. London, Sept. 10. The Ulster Association claims that the statements in Lord Birkenhead’s letter have served a twofold purpose. They have confirmed Ulster’s view that clause 12 means boundary rectification only, and, secondly, have elicited a reply from the Free State boundary bureau proving that what the Free State meant all along was dismemberment.—(A. and N.Z.) LLOYD GEORGE’S ENDORSEMENT. (Received 11, 12.50 p.m.) London, Sept. 10. Mr Lloyd George, speaking at Penmaenmawr, said:—“Lord Birkenhead’s letter contains the only responsible interpretation of clause 12. I stand by the letter.”—(A. and N.Z.)
