TROTTING.
LOOKING FOR INCREASED PERMITS. Wellington. Sept. 10. At :t meeting of the Wellington Trotting Club to-night the president. Mr R. A. Armstrong, congratulated the club on its successful year. Hp spoke of excessive taxation and said the epople were being made to pay too dearly for their sport. Every pound
collected in this way was relief in like proportion to that party in the community who, if they had their way, would wipe racing clubs out of existence. The increased number of racing days for clubs was of perennial interest. He had the assurance of the Minister that* the Gaming Bill would bo introduced this session. It would provide for an increased number of permits. They would then sec how they stood. If permits were increased trotting was entitled to a large share.
