HASTINGS SUB-UNION
Mr. .John A. Fraser presided over the weekly meeting last night, when it was decided that no matches be played on Saturday next, but that the third ’ grade Sachs-Johnston Shield match between M.A.C. and Hastings H. 5.0.8. be played on the Ridge on Saturday. September 20th. It was reported that as far as Nelson Park was concerned the season was now closed, the park having been handed over to the council to enable the caretaker to prepare it for the cricket season.
The case of a M.A.C. third grade player who was ordered off for striking another player was held over for a week to enable both referee and player to appear before the meeting. It was decided to instruct the secre tary to write a letter of appreciation to "Sergeant Hogan and his staff of constables in recognition of the efficient services of the police during the season.
