PAGEANT OF EMPIRE.

ITS EDUCATIONAL VALUE. London, Sept. 8. With Prince Arthur of Connaught presiding, Pageant Master, Mr Frank Leacelles, was banquetted.by a committee of pageant performers, chiefly Australian and New Zealand. Prince Arthur of Connaught described the pageant as worthy of the Empire. He ferred to the achievements of Mr Lascelles in Canada, South African and India, and paid a tribute to the 15,000 voluntary performers who braved the rigours of the British summer. Mr Lascelles emphasised the educational value of the pageant and its stimulating of interest in the Empire. Mr Lunn also dwelt on the enormous educational value of the pageant, which he described as a wonderful achievement in Empire history. He added that the Labour party was developing an Imperial policy which would strengthen the bonds of Empire more than anything had hitherto done. —(Reuter.)
