HASTINGS JUNIOR SUB-ASSO-CIATION. The annual general meeting of the abov© was held in.the Y.M.C.A. rooms • on Monday evening and there was a fair attendance. The annual report read a s follows:— W© hav© had a very successful season and as shown by the balancesheet our credit balance of £lB Is 3d exceeds any previous balance of our 1 association. Our assets amount to £2 2s 6d making a total credit balance - of £2O 3 S 9d and our liabilities are nil. Six teams were entered in the competition and a very close finish resulted. The Hastings Club are to be congratulated on their meritorious i achievement in gaining both the Hastings and Hawke’s Bay Junior Championships marking the second time in succession that a Hastings team has had distinction of being Hawke’s Bay junior champions. Congratulations are also du© to th© Heretaunga dub in retaining the Challenge Cup for the third year in succession. Two representative matches wore played against Napier during the season and we suffered defeat on both occasions. During Easter junior teams from Palmerston North and Puketitiri visited Hawke’s Bay and the names of tho following Hastings players were submitted for selection in th© combined Napier-Hastings representative team: Messrs. H. Watkinson, W. Pearson, O. Watkins, J. Wilson. W. Crombie, O. Eckhold and G. Tait. During the season a medal was presented for the most improved player and one for the best bowling average. The former was won bj’ W. Person and th© latter by Mr. C. Eckhold. It is with deep regret that your committee has to record the demise, during the post season, of one of our most keen and enthusiastic supporters in the person of Mr. W. D. Southcqtt. and Mr. Southcott’s kindly disposition an<l cheery personality will be much missed this season. In conclusion your committee desire to thank all those gentlemen who acted as umpires during the past season, Mr. W. Nelson and Mr. M. E. Wood for their donations, Mr J. Archibald for his kindlv assistance as sole selector and all those who assisted in making the season the success it proved to be. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron Mr. W. Nelson; president, Mr. M. E. Wood, vice-pre-sidents. Messrs A. E. Grenside. S. O. Garland. D. H. McLeod D. McLeod and J. Tipping; hon. secretary and treasurer. Mr. L. A. Goldfinch; chairman, Air. A. W. T. Webb; delegates to Hawke’s Bay Cricket Association, Messrs. L. A. Goldfinch and J. Paul; hon. auditor, Mr. W. Anderson; sole selector. Mr. J. Archibald. It was decided that in view’ of the good financial position of the association, the affiliation fee to the association would be reduced from 30s to £1 Is.
