It is reported that a truce has been declared in Khost, on the Afghan frontier, and that negotiations for peace are proceeding between Afghan officers and the rebel leader. Engineers have discovered a new coal-field in south-east Yorkshire (Eng-
land). Sinkings struck the continuation of tho famous Barnsley seam, the richest in England, eight miles eastward. It is supposed the limit of Ilia now seam ie flvt feel thick, and it is believed it extends eastward to Goole and then 65 miles under tho North Sea. It is estimated there are 20,000 million tons of coal, sufficient for 400 years.
