HASTINGS BAPTIST CHURCH

SALE OF WORK. A highly successful sale of work was held at the Hastings Baptist Church yesterday. The proceedings were opened by the Mayor (Mr. G. Maddison). who expressed the hope that the church revenue would substantially benefit by the special effort being made to raise funds. He was sure that the willing workers were deserving of every support. Brisk business was done at th© various stalls which resulted in the raising of a sum within the region of £lOO- a very gratifying amount. Tn ths evening an efficient orchestra, comprising th© folowing instrumentalists played stirring selections, which were greatly appreciated :—Messrs. W. Sorenson. H. Harper. R. Jones. J. Ha vines, and AV. Harrison. Th© stallholders were as follows: — Plain work, Mrs. Henderson, and Mrs. Shakespere: fancy stall, Mrs. Sisson and Mrs. Hughes: cake stall. Mrs. R. E Barlev, Mrs. Hill, and Mrs. Hay; Inllie stall, M’s. Ricketts, assisted hv Bibl© Class girls; flower stall, Mrs. G. Stevens, and Mrs. Hawkins; Girls’ Guild stall, Miss Dorothy Stevenson, assisted by members of the guild; nroduce stall. Mrs. Hicks; jumble stall, Mrs Barbour and Mrs. Lowe: afternoon tea, Mrs. Coad. Mrs. McCann, Airs. Spooner Mrs Higgs, and Mrs. Ladbrook; Christmas tree. Mrs. AVright and Mrs. Tbodson: competitions, Mr. J. W. Berridge. Mr. F. E. Barley. Th© duties of secretary were ably carried out by Mr. J. Fear.
