HASTINGS CITIZENS' BAND.
An emergency meeting of the Citizens’ Committee was held last night, Air. R. AV. Jones in the chair. His AA T orship the Mayor w r as present. Th sub-committee appointed at the last meeting to organise a band day, reported having found it impossible to enlist the necessary help to enable the scheme to be successfully worked. It was also reported that lady helpers who had undertaken to canvas for hon members, had had most discouraging experiences. The committee were unanimously of the opinion that the position was hopeless. However, it was decided to give the public an opportunity to say whether it wanted a , band or not. A public meeting is to b" called for the purpose and it w r as left to the Mayor ajid chairman to select the most suitable date. A resolution was also drawn up to be submitted to the band at its next practice on Friday evening, with a view to ascertaining what action the members propose to take in connection with the situation.
