WAIPUKURAV STOCK SALE. The stock brokers held their usual Male in the Waipukurau yards yesterday, when there was a small entry both of cattle and sheep, various stock being Very hard to quit. Other fcorts sold readily at the following prices:— Light fat heifers £5 ss, 3|-yr. steers 4 '5 12s 6d. 2 do. £3 15s, empty ewes 17s 3d to 245, m.s. hoggets 22s 9d. HIGH COMMISSIONER’S CABLED REPORT. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 4th. inst.. from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Meat.—Dock strike has not been settled but it is thought that men may return to work next week. Market dull. Home supplies are increasing but demand is only moderate. Canterbury light-weight lamb firmer, second-class quality weakei*. Mutton unchanged except for heavy-weight which is firmer. New Zealand coloured 108/- to 110/- per cwt. (11 id. to ll}d per lb.); white 110/- to 112/- per cwt. (H}d to 1/- per lb.). j A shipment of New Zealand produce arrived this week per s.s. “Matakana.” Estimated stocks of cheese on I hand.—Canadian : London nil, Liver- • pool and Bristol 12,800 boxes against total of 83,000 for same time last year. New Zealand and Australian in i London 6,700 crates; Liverpool and j Bristol nil, against 20,700 for last i year. Figures represent cheese actually landed and available. In addition, there are 5,000 crates landed but not available. Estimated stocks awaiting discharge in London: Canadian 62,000 boxes, New Zealand 84,000 crates.
