EARTHQUAKES IN CALIFORNIA.
LOS ANGELES SHAKEN. (Received 24, 8.55 a.m.) New York, July 23. A telegram from Los Angeles states that two severe earthquake shocks startled the city early this morning, lhey lasted six seconds, and threw pedestrians off their feet and cracked walls, but no injuries or serious damage have been reported. Many well-known film stars fled from their homes at Hollywood, where the shocks were particularly felt.—(A. and N.Z.)
