Previous to that 1 was a member of the NewZealand military forces without experience as a hotel-keeper. On June 11, 1922, I sold out my interest in the hotel, having suffered severe losses during the sixteen months. During the last eight months of this time 1 was ill, and as a result, in addition to the slackness of trade, 1 had to give up business on account of my health and lost heavily on the sale. Since selling out I have been under constant treatment at the Pukeora Sanatorium.”
