BIG FIGURES FOR FRIESIAN BULL. Wanganui, March 15. Mr. Collins, of LucernedKTe, Mount Bryan, South Australia, has bought Mr John Donald’s famous Friesian bull Woodcrest Pi Tze Pontiac, which is claimed to be the world’s greatest living sire of dairy stock. The price runs into big figures, though not announced for publication. THE ENGLISH MARKETS. Messrs Dalgety and Co. have received the following cable from Ijondou:— Wool sales continue animated and prices are on the whole well maintained. American buyers are operating’. Owing to withdrawals the sales will close on the 23rd March. B.A.W.R.A. sales at Liverpool on 19th April are postponed and there wilt therefore be no public wool sales until 24th April. Dairy produce.—Butter market dull, but not Quotubly lower. Cheese market very firm owing to •scarcity. Prices 6s higher. The Bank of New Zealand lias received the following advice from London under date 9th instant:— Butter.—. Slow; 205/ to 208/ per cwt. Cheese.—Firm on short supplies; l4O/ to 144/ per cwt.; white, 138/ to 142/ per cwt. Frozen Meat.—Ma’rket for wethers is firm, but not much doing. Ewe market is dull. Market for lamb has declined with very poor demand. Beef market depressed. Wethers, light 8d to JJd per lb., heavy 7d to B£d; ewes, 6 l-4d to 7|d; lambs, 12 l-4d to 13d. seconds 10jd to lljd; ox, hinds 4 3-4 d to sd, fores 3 l-4d to 3|d; cow. TAKAPAU. The stock brokers report having held their monthly sale at Takapau yesterday, when a good yarding of sheep and cattle was offered to a good attendance of the public.
