CUTS IN THE PSALTER. London, March 14. ihe proposals of toe Committee appoiuteu by tne House oi Bisnops amend the Prayer dook incxuue tne following cuts in tne Psalter, ine proposals sent by tiie liouse to tne laity tor consideration in April are:— Psalm 14. verses a to i ; rsalm 55, verses 16 to qo; Psalm 68, verses to 23; Psalm 69, verses 23 to 29; rsami luy, verses p 19; Psalm 13«, verses i to 9; Psalm 14U, verses 9 auu lu; Psalm ill, verses < ami a. Hie last omission is due to tlio fact that tne text is so bad tiiat satisfactory translation is impossible, it is also proposed to alter 346 other verses. Hie committee report that they removed only, tne most conspicuous uiemishes. Many more alterations are necessary to bring the Psalms up to the requirements of modern scholarsnip.—(A; and N.Z.)
