PROPOSED DAIRY POOL BILL.

TO AFFECT EXPORT PRODUCE ONLY. QUESTIONS IN THE HOUSE. (Special to “Tribune.”) Wellington, Sept. 28. The suggestion that the bill creating a Dairy Control Board should be suboqß'l pjnoa qjjq.u u 03. evidence at once was made to the Minister for Agriculture by Mr. Vernon Reed (Bay ot Islands) in the House yesterday. Mr. Reed reminded the Minister that two meetings in the Taranaki district had asked that a committee be set up to consider the bill and take evidence, and he urged that whatever was done should be done at once so as to avoid delay. The Minister lor Agriculture replied that he would consult the Prime Minister in regard to whether a special parliamentary committee should be set up to deal with the matter, or whether it should be referred direct to the Agri cultural, Pastoral and Stock Committee. There was a lot of business* for the law draftsman and the Prime Minister had told producers that if the bill was brought down before the end of the session that was the earliest they could expect. Mr. Nosworthy made passing reference to some of the opinions expressed as to the intentions of the bill and said that some of the co-operative companies were more or less against a pool. The pool would not interfere at all with co-operative companies whose business was confined to New Zealand. The proposals were only, in regard to produce exported There were some people leading suppliers to believe otherwise, but he could assure them that the bill, when it came down, would deal with exported produce and not produce sold in the Dominion. Mr. Masters (Stratford): They know that. Mr. Nosworthy: Well, they are making statements otherwise. Mr. Jennings (Waitemo) suggested the Minister > should have evidence taken at once by the stock committee. There was a good deal of objection to the scheme. Mr. Nosworthy replied that he would make a decision within the next few days.
