THE ECLIPSE PHOTOGRAPHS.
• FAULTY DEFINITION. (Received 27. 11.25 a.m.) Sydney, Sept. 27. Professor Cook, referring to the eclipse photographs, said that whilst the weather was good definition was bad. The image of the sun, on the ground glass screen of the photoheliograph was boiling badly. The photographs have not yet been developed, hut he is afraid they will not he as good as anticipated. The images of Einstein plates may not be sufficiently clear for the necessary accuracy of measurement.—(A. and N.Z.) PARTY HOMEWARD BOUND. (Received 27. 11.25 a.m.) Perth, Sept. 27. Tho eclipse party hope to sail from Wallal on Wednesday. The strong westerly gale has subsided. The ladies of the party were conveyed in skiffs to the Geranium, five miles from shore. On account of the rough surf some ladies were compelled to wade waist deep to tho boat. —(A. and N.Z.)
