(Received 25. 1.20 p.m.) „ , Paris, Sent. 24. Carpenter scaled 12st. (Jibs, and Siki 12st 61bs. Carpentier treated Siki contemptuously in the first round, which ended evenly. In the second round Siki overcame his nerl vousness and showed to better ad--0 vantage. The Frenchman realised he 0 was fighting for a title and.the third 0 round wjis fought hammer and tongs. 6 Honours were again slightly in Siki’s « favour. Siki had all the best of the 0 fourth round, Carpentier being punchn ed all round the ring. He was badly 0 punished. In the fifth Siki carried all 0 before him. Carpentier, whose eve t) closed, started butting with his head. J The referee cautioned him. In the j sixth Siki set a fierce pace. In the 0 middle of the round Carpentier fell 5 and everyone thought Siki had knockJ ed him out. The referee called a foul. 3 declaring Siki tripped Carpentier. The ) judges entered the ring. A doctor J stated that Carpentier’s ankle was ( sprained. Carpentier stated that he was unable to rise and u*as carried from the ring, bleeding profusely and semi-conscious.
