MOARI ENTERTAINMENT.
AT HASTINgTtO-MORROW. A Maori entertainment to be given in the Municipal Theatre, Hastings, to-morrow evening will be something unique and quite out of the ordinary beaten track. It has been described as symbolism of an intensely interesting nature. Just as we receive great pleasure in seeing children at play, so it is equally delightful to watch the gambols of a child’s race. Unfortunately the opportunities of seeing the interesting natural games and customs of our Maori people are now very rare, and on that account the organisers of to-morrow’s entertainment deserve every encouragement in their attempt to revive the picturesque customs of the Maori, which are rapidly passing away into oblivion. The programme to be presented covers a wide range in the field of Maori customs games, and amusements and offers to the pakeha a splendid introduction into the real life ol the Maori. The bright and picturesque costumes, the harmony of colouring, the poetry of motion, especially in their poi dances, and the blood stirring hakas and war cries, make up a programme full of interest, amuse ment, and instruction. The Rev. F. A. Iteimett lioelfil ftjiai/ 'all schoqils should have the opportunity of seeing he entertainment, as it would be *• real education to them. All school children, under their teachers, will be charged half-price. Seats in the dress circle may be reserved with Mr. Riddell. The total proceeds aie in aid of the WnijKitu Church building fund.
